Follow the link below to see a little clip I put together as we sailed 20 miles off Erie, PA near Long Point in 3 - 5 foot waves. What a blast...
We had a lot of fun that day as we sailed from Erie, PA to Pt Dover, Ont. My friend David is at the helm of Painkiller, my 1998 Catalina 400. We averaged 7.3 knots with wind and waves off the quarter then moving forward after we rounded Long Point. Look for the 3-5 footers with an occasional 6.
Crack open a bottle of rum, mix up a batch of painkillers and have a Great Sail.
Nice!! As a side topic, what was your camera and software setup to create your video? I've been looking for a good camera and software to make my own videos of our sails and club events.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. The Long Point passage was one of my favorites as we finally figured out how to film and capture wave action so you get a true sence of wave heights and depth.
Believe it or not, everything was shot in HD on a camera as large as the palm of your hand. We used a Flip Ultra HD camera using the software that came with it to edit the footage. Its pretty basic stuff and anyone can do it. You simply paste a bunch of clips together or you can trim and cut them apart then paste bits and pieces back together in any order you choose. I spent a few hours playing with this one, chopping things up and putting them back together as you see above. Follow the little wizard that walks you through the process, choose your sound and credit options and your done.
