Has anyone had experience with vertical batten furling main on Catalina 400? I'd like to hear of performance differences experienced and whether any difficulties in furling were experienced. Thanks!

As would I, since I need to replace my main this year and was considering vertical battens. Does this give some roach?

I've received a few quotes and I believe most of the lofts put a little bit of positive roach into the sails... I think the challenges are making sure the vertical battens don't add too much bulk to the sail, crowding the entry slot/cavity.... most use 4 or 5 short vertical battens, so there's not much overlap; however some use 3 longer (maybe 8') battens...
Maybe we'll get some feedback from someone who's done it!

I just ordered one from UK sails. Depending on delivery schedule, I may not even bother to put the old main on this spring.....come to think of it, my sailmaker has my old main!!! If you are more patient than I am, I'll let you know how things work out. By the way...it is true that you get some roach with the vertical battens.

I ordered one from UK Halsey last week as well..... we'll have a couple of opinions to post to the forums before long!
